Be wise as snakes, but innocent as Doves

Not because of Righteousness:

After the Lord your GOD has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you. It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your GOD will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.-Deuteronomy 9:4-6

We see from the passages of Deuteronomy 9 that GOD destroyed the Canaanite nations because of their extreme wickedness. These nations had so much widespread wickedness and ungodliness that GOD decided that they had to be completely removed. We can read about more examples of what GOD did to the ungodly nations from Noah’s day, which also proves that during the time of Noah that they too experienced wide-spreads of wickedness and ungodliness. The people of Noah’s day were (in majority) in total disobedience to GOD, see Genesis 6:1-7. Sound familiar? It certainly should! The Bible teaches us that ungodliness will characterize the world in the latter days. We absolutely are seeing this here on a daily basis. I get some mixed views from being in different conversations. My least favorite thing to hear though is “I don’t believe that that’ll ever happen within our lifetime.” I always get those same emotions come over me too when I hear this, it leaves feelings of disappointment and disbelief when I hear that same thing being said from yet another Christian. I’m no date setter for when CHRIST will return, just as HIS word says, no man will know the day or the hour,(Matthew 24:36), but I think that this verse gets taken out of context a lot, as much of the rest GOD’S word does too today in our world. While it is indeed true that we cannot know the hour that JESUS THE CHRIST will be returning, but we certainly can know the season of HIS RETURN, and we absolutely should at least know that we are in the season of HIS RETURN.

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”  Therefore, “Come out from them and BE SEPERATE, says the LORD.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”
And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the LORD ALMIGHTY.”- 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be LOVERS OF THEMSELVES:: lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of GOD—having a form of godliness “but DENYING” its power. Have nothing to do with such people.-2 Timothy 3:1-5

The bible tells us to be as wise as snakes and as innocent as doves. This verse has really taken on a total deeper meaning for me lately. It’s especially relevant to the exact day that we are living in. We need to be wise with who we are associating ourselves with and even with what conversation we’re apart of too. We don’t know really what kind of traps Satan has planned for us for the day, but we can be sure he’s laid some, because the Bible does say that he’s the great deceiver. Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He does these three a lot and in some of the most calculated ways. GOD’S WORD gives us explicit instructions though; HE tells us not to be yoked with unbelievers.

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and SHAKE THE DUST OFF YOUR FEET -Matthew 10:14

We really need to be very careful of the company that we keep. Being the innocent dove allows us to still be able to show love but even loving others gets taken out of context too. Giving truth in love, is loving others. This is not judging them either, which BTW, I hear this being taken way out of context just too much too. Giving truth IS GIVING LOVE. With the help of HIS HOLY SPIRIT, CHRIST will show us how to share the truth too in love. Be as wise as the serpent, but be as innocent as a dove.
